Stylish kitchen with added wow factor
The Project:
When Jane and her husband Mark moved into their house seven years ago the kitchen was fairly new, but recently it had begun to feel somewhat tired and in need of modernisation. They had the whole kitchen refitted, removing a short wall to open up the room and re-plastering all the walls and ceiling. Jane thought it was a fantastic opportunity to add a real wow factor and stamp a bit of her own personality on the design. It's often said that the woman chooses the important things like the kitchen, but in this case it was a joint venture between Jane and her husband and they looked at lots of different samples before agreeing on a metallic brick mosaic.
The Result:
Jane said: "I fitted the mosaics myself using MosaicFix backing sheets which made installation simpler. I used Platinum Lancer 139 as the main sheet, filling in with Platinum 135 at the corners. When having dinner parties the first thing our guests say when seeing the kitchen for the first time is "WOW". I've been told that photographs don't do it justice. It's a very grown up kitchen that is both stylish and practical, with the mosaics the centre of the whole colour scheme that I built around them. I absolutely love it and there is a glamorous feel from the mosaics of glitter, sparkle and shine."
